Recently, our team took a trip across Baringo County just to listen to what you had to say. The conversations were wonderful, but the feedback on this specific topic was deeply moving. About 35.6% of you shared a common heartache with us—that our unemployed youth are currently the most neglected group in our county, leaving them tragically vulnerable to risks like drug abuse and crime.

We all know the traditional political playbook: give out a few small tokens or handouts right before an election and hope the problem goes away. But let’s be honest, handouts do not build futures. Our young people don’t want charity; they want a genuine chance to succeed.

The amazing news? An overwhelming 85% of you already know exactly what we need to do. You asked for a real, multi-pronged youth strategy that actually makes a difference.

Based entirely on your fantastic ideas, here is how the Baringo Mpya movement plans to pull our youth off the streets and invite them to become the engine of our county’s prosperity:

Giving Talent a Place to Shine

Our young people are bursting with world-class athletic and creative skills! That’s why 34.5% of you told us we urgently need to invest in sports facilities, talent academies, and art studios. We want to build modern, dedicated spaces where they can practice, showcase their incredible talents, and turn their passions into rewarding, dignified careers.

A Financial Push for Great Ideas

We meet brilliant young folks every day whose amazing business ideas die simply because they can’t find the funding. Around 20.8% of you suggested a brilliant solution: interest-free startup loans.

By providing accessible, interest-free capital, we can give our young entrepreneurs the friendly push they need to build their dreams from the ground up.

Making Business Easier

Money is great, but it’s not enough if the system is working against you. Nearly 30% (29.7% to be exact!) of you reminded us that we also need a friendlier overall business environment. We want to cut out the frustrating red tape so that when our youth do start a business, they can easily set up and thrive without being weighed down by endless bureaucratic hurdles.

When we give our youth the right tools—talent development, accessible capital, and a supportive environment—we do so much more than just keep them busy. We empower them to be active, joyful participants in our shared wealth. Let’s stop with the handouts and start handing them the keys to their own future. Let’s build a working Baringo, together.
